Sich auskennen 〈to know all about something, to be an expert on or well-trained in something〉, as, e.g., in piano-playing, is not a matter of mere nerve-habits, but is rather a matter of precipitated voluntary acts, all united in a complex structure to which, as a whole, I lend my fiat when I start playing. I do not need to lend my fiat directly to each of the subsumed acts.
